The picture has taken in roughly $200 million domestically - but that doesn’t reckon with inflation, something that’s extraordinarily difficult to compute given the film’s multiple releases over 80 years. Gone With the Wind cost $4.25 million (or $78.6 million in today’s dollars) but what it earned is harder to calculate. ![]() Three stand out: 1939’s Gone With the Wind, 1997’s Titanic and 2009’s Avatar. But does that also make them the most profitable films in hard cash? Not quite.īoth horror flicks were dwarfed by a host of big earners. Instead, foreign rights were sold to individual distributors for a total of $5 million, with the producers earning an extra $5 million or more in bonuses.įollowing a ballpark rule-of-thumb that the studio keeps around half of the box office take (the money the studio makes is called “rentals”), Paramount and DreamWorks made a theatrical profit of around $78 million from the domestic gross (not counting the distribution fee), with at least as much going to distributors abroad.ĭollar for dollar, Blair Witch and Paranormal have to be considered two of the best movie investments in history. The movie earned $193 million at the global box office.įiguring out Paranormal’s profit is complicated because Paramount didn’t distribute the movie internationally. As a return on investment (ROI), looking at the initial outlay alone, that beats Blair Witch - unless you also factor in the marketing costs, in which case Blair is in pole position.ĭreamWorks paid $350,000 for Paranormal, which was released by Paramount, with around $18 million going to domestic marketing. Later, however, its sound was redone for an additional $150,000 and producers Oren Peli and Jason Blum spent an extra $50,000 to reshoot the ending at Steven Spielberg’s request, bringing the total budget to $215,000. Artisan Entertainment’s Bill Block bought the picture for just over $1 million and (after a hefty marketing spend of $6 million to $8 million domestically alone) it earned $249 million globally. If you think of profit purely as a ratio of production cost to box office gross, 1999’s The Blair Witch Project and 2007’s Paranormal Activity run neck and neck.īlair Witch involved an initial outlay of $35,000 - but that was just for the shoot once postproduction was completed, the real budget was over $200,000 (and may have been as much as $500,000), including a sound remix and a transfer to 35mm. Meanwhile, niches such as horror, romantic comedy (romcoms), and musicals rely largely on the most enthusiastic fans of each segment. What’s Hollywood’s most profitable movie ever? To use the Forbes Advisor personal loan calculator, input the loan amount, annual interest rate and repayment term in months or years. Not only does this help you calculate what you can afford to borrow, but it also makes it easier to compare lenders to find the lowest monthly payment. Personal loan calculators are a way to estimate the monthly payment on a personal loan. These tools let prospective borrowers plug in the necessary information to get an estimated monthly payment. The easiest way to calculate loan payments is with an online loan calculator. Here’s the amortization table for the first year of this loan:Ĭalculate Loan Payments Using Calculators In this case, the monthly payment is $506.23 for the entire repayment period-about three times the interest-only payment. If you want to know what your expected payment will be, use one of the calculators provided below.Ĭonsider the same $50,000 loan from above. Payments for fully-amortized fixed-rate loans are set using amortization tables and provided by the lender at the beginning of a loan. This means that each payment reduces the amount you owe in both areas.Ĭalculating payments based on an amortization schedule is more complex than interest-only loans. Amortizing LoansĪn amortizing loan is a type of loan where the monthly payments are applied to both the principal balance and the interest. Additionally, if the value of your collateral decreases, you could end up owing more than it is worth. Because you’re not paying off your loan’s principal balance, you’ll pay more in interest overall. Interest-only loans can be helpful if you need to keep your payments low in the near term. For example, interest-only payments on a $50,000 loan with a 4% interest rate and a 10-year repayment term would be $166.67. To calculate interest-only loan payments, multiply the loan balance by the annual interest rate, and divide it by the number of payments in a year. The amount you owe in principal doesn’t change during this period, so your monthly payments are lower than they would be with a traditional, amortized loan. Interest-only LoansĪn interest-only loan is a type of loan where you only make payments toward the interest for a certain period. Once you have all the necessary information, you can plug it into the formula and calculate your monthly payment. Keep in mind that this can be used for any type of loan, including personal loans, car loans, student loans and mortgages. You’ll need to know the interest rate, loan amount and loan term. Loan Payment Formulaīorrowers can use the loan payment formula to calculate the monthly payment of a loan. Some lenders also charge prepayment penalties that will increase the overall cost of your loan if you pay it off early, while others may limit the number of additional payments you can make each year. It may be necessary to request that extra payments be applied to the principal. If you want to make extra payments on your loan, check with your lender first. If you put these additional funds toward the loan’s principal balance, you will reduce the interest you owe over time. Making extra payments on top of what you’re required to pay can help you repay your loan faster and save money in the long run. A longer loan term comes with lower monthly payments but more interest overall. A shorter loan term means higher monthly payments, but interest has less time to accrue. Depending on the lender, additional fees may include origination fees, late fees, insufficient funds fees and prepayment penalties. Interest rates are more competitive for borrowers with excellent credit because they pose less risk to lenders. Annual percentage rates (APRs) include annualized interest as well any fees or additional costs of borrowing, like origination fees. Interest is what lenders charge consumers to borrow money. The loan principal is the total amount you borrowed. The main factors that impact loan payments are: The amount of your monthly payment depends on the terms of your loan, including the interest rate, repayment term and amortization schedule. These payments go toward the loan principal (the amount you initially borrowed) and the interest (the cost of borrowing the money). Most loans require monthly payments over a set period-the loan term. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Additionally, your DPS driving test administrator will look for these things while you are taking your exam. Getting in the habit of doing these little things every time you hit the road will help you gain familiarity with the road. Be sure to practice driving with your test vehicle whenever possible to gain maximum comfort with its various controls. This is a massive advantage to you, as you can spend as much time as you like fully getting comfortable with your test vehicle beforehand. You’re required to bring your own test vehicle to the driving test in Texas. When your test administrator asks you to change lanes on your road test, he or she will check to make sure you do exactly this. Additionally, you’ll want to check your mirrors and quickly check your blind spots, then turn your steering wheel in the direction of your desired lane. #5 – Signal and check mirrors and blind spot when changing lanesīefore changing lanes, you’ll want to start signaling at least 100 feet before you plan to make the action. This will prevent any sudden surprises from occurring, as you should be abreast of most dangerous situations well before they occur. ![]() #4 – Constantly scan the road aheadĬonstantly scanning the road will allow you to stay current with everything that’s happening on the road at any point in time. To ensure you’re fully comfortable with these maneuvers, you’ll want to make sure you’re practicing them consistently every time you hit the road. The Texas driving test will cover common maneuvers such as parallel parking, three points turn, U-turns, and more. #3 – Perform common test maneuvers consistently After the lane is clear, you may proceed by gently pressing the accelerator. Making complete stops at stop signs helps keep you safe, as it allows you to properly look both ways before crossing an intersection to avoid oncoming vehicles and/or pedestrians. Additionally, this hand positioning encourages much better driving posture, which your instructor will be taking note of. Keeping steering hands firmly at the top of both sides of the wheel will ensure your vehicle always stays in control. However, there are lots of great ways to further prepare before you are set to take the exam. The first step in preparing for the DPS driving test is to study by doing practice tests and reading the driver’s manual – it may sound weird, but this will help you learn about driving safety practices and the rules of the road, which will also help you behind the wheel. ![]() ![]() ![]() To include MR images from various scanners, another 30 patients with cervical spinal MR images that had been imported from outside hospitals were also consecutively selected. Sixty-six patients who had undergone cervical spinal MR images in our institution between the period of January and December 2010 were consecutively selected. Patients with either history of trauma, previous spinal operation, or histologically proven or suspected tumor were excluded on the basis of medical records reviewed by one of the authors. ![]() This retrospective study involved cervical spinal MRIs of 96 patients aged over 60 years. Cervical NFS is known to be common in older age groups because degenerative changes in the cervical spine are the most common cause of cervical NFS and degenerative changes increase with increasing age ( 14, 15, 16). This study was approved by our Institutional Review Board, and informed consent was waived. In addition, the anterior margin of the superior articular process was used as a standard reference for the posterior margin of the extraforaminal nerve root space because of the low prevalence of anatomical variation. Because the vertebral arteries are located in the transverse foramen of each cervical vertebra, the posterior margin of the vertebral artery was used as an alternative standard reference for the anterior margin of the extraforaminal nerve root space for the grading system. In cases of an unclear ipsilateral extraforaminal nerve root on MR axial images, the width of the contralateral extraforaminal nerve root at the level of the superior articular process or the width between the posterior margin of the vertebral artery and the anterior margin of the superior articular process were alternatively used. The cases that showed nearly complete obliteration of the neural foramen were classified as Grade 2 regardless of the extraforaminal nerve root. Grade 2 refers to severe cervical NFS, when the width of the neural foramen is the same as or less than 50% of the width of the extraforaminal nerve roots ( Fig. Grade 1 refers to moderate cervical NFS: the narrowest width of the neural foramen is 51-100% of the width of the extraforaminal nerve root at the level of the anterior margin of the superior articular process ( Fig. Grade 0 refers to the absence of NFS, with the narrowest width of the neural foramen greater than the width of the extraforaminal nerve root at the level of the anterior margin of the superior articular process ( Fig. The purpose of this study was to propose a new MRI grading system for cervical NFS and to evaluate the reproducibility of the system.Ĭervical NFS was classified into one of the following three grades by the MR findings on routinely obtained axial T2-weighted images at the cervical disc level ( Fig. Therefore, we developed a new MRI grading system for diagnosing and grading cervical NFS based on axial T2-weighted images. However, to the best of our knowledge, there is no universally accepted grading system for cervical NFS based on MRI.Ī standardized grading system for assessing cervical NFS is required for comparing the data from different investigations and for clinical research and is helpful for consistent radiology reporting, identifying the correlation between the imaging findings and clinical symptoms during daily routine practice, improving communication between radiologists and clinicians, and the standardized treatment protocol of cervical radiculopathy. ![]() A number of reports have assessed cervical NFS ( 2, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13). MRI can demonstrate the cervical spinal anatomy, including the bony structure, spinal cord, and soft tissue, but assessing cervical foraminal stenosis with MRI is demanding because of the small size and susceptibility of the anatomical parts of the cervical spine ( 4, 5, 6). Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is currently the most commonly used imaging method for the accurate evaluation of the cervical spine. The progressive narrowing of the intervertebral foramina by these anatomical changes may result in nerve root impingement, inflammation, or both, which could cause cervical radiculopathy. Cervical neural foraminal stenosis (NFS) is defined by neural foraminal narrowing that may be caused by degenerative osteophytes, facet hypertrophy, or laterally herniated discs ( 1, 2, 3). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Requested by: Julia Salzman, Rochester Public Schools #51850)Ĥ. ![]() (Requested by: Sarah Mittelstadt, Southern Plains Education Cooperative #51075) Plan Prior Written Notice and Early Intervention Prior Written Notice forms to enable users to easily reorder items.
